Skender Promotes Key Leaders to Support Continued Growth, Premier Client Service
Skender, one of the nation’s top building contractors, is proud to announce eight leadership promotions spanning senior project management, senior field operations, and corporate support. These promotions reflect Skender’s commitment to nurturing the next generation of leaders who help deliver the premier construction experience.
The promotions are:
Jacob Boyle, to Project Executive. Since joining Skender in 2016, Jacob Boyle has brought over 15 years of industry experience and a forward-thinking approach to project delivery across tenant interiors, healthcare, mission critical and life sciences sectors. Known for his collaborative leadership and steady resolve, Jacob has been instrumental in driving complex projects to successful outcomes. In his new role, he will continue to champion client relationships and lead large-scale initiatives with creativity and precision.
Kevin Chan, to Project Executive. A valued team member since 2015, Kevin Chan has played a pivotal role on Skender’s Healthcare team. Trusted by owners, facility professionals and end-users alike, Kevin is known for his reliability, clear communication and unwavering client focus. His promotion recognizes not only his technical expertise but also his impact as a mentor and collaborative leader.
Lauren Bauer, to Senior Project Manager, Team Leader. With a decade of industry experience, Lauren Bauer has led several high-profile projects across Chicago since joining Skender in 2019. Bringing a strong technical background and team-first mindset to every project, her promotion reflects her outstanding preconstruction and project management leadership skills and growing impact on both project outcomes and team culture.
Frank Alfano, to Senior Project Manager. Frank Alfano joined Skender in 2021 and quickly established himself as a dependable and detail-oriented leader. With construction experience spanning nearly 1 million square feet of projects, Frank brings a solutions-focused approach to every project. His background includes work across commercial, healthcare and tenant interiors, always driving operational efficiency and client satisfaction.
Patrick Gately, to Senior Project Manager. Known for his thoughtful planning and strong communication, Patrick Gately has contributed to a wide range of commercial and institutional projects since joining Skender in 2016. Bringing over a decade of experience, Patrick’s collaborative leadership style ensures quality outcomes that build lasting client relationships.
Mike Matyja, to Senior Project Manager. A multifamily construction specialist with 15 years of experience, Mike Matyja has led numerous affordable, market-rate and senior housing developments across the region since joining Skender in 2021. In 2024, he was named Outstanding General Contractor Project Manager by ASA Chicago for his excellence in collaboration, problem-solving and team leadership. Mike’s promotion recognizes his commitment to delivering results while supporting Skender’s project teams and trade partners.
Tim Gertz, to Senior Superintendent. Tim Gertz has been an integral part of the Skender team since 2017, deepening the company’s expertise with over two decades of industry experience and a deep understanding of field operations. Known for his leadership and hands-on approach, Tim ensures projects are executed safely, efficiently and to the highest standards. His promotion underscores his continued leadership on complex jobsites and commitment to best-in-class project delivery.
Colleen O’Brien, to Director, People & Culture. Since joining Skender in 2013, Colleen O’Brien has helped shape the company’s culture, talent strategy and organizational development. From overseeing recruitment and internship programs to building high-performing team training, her influence is embedded throughout the organization. Colleen brings a people-first mindset and strategic vision to HR leadership and will continue to foster Skender’s reputation as a great place to work.
