Skender Named Contractor of the Year by the Construction Financial Management Association
The Chicago chapter of the Construction Financial Management Association (CFMA) last night named Skender the Contractor of the Year at the annual Build Chicago awards celebration event. Skender President & CEO Jerry Ball, along with several team members, was on hand to accept the award on behalf of the Chicago-based general contractor.
Skender had a banner year in 2025. Projects completed or kicked off in last 12 months include Jigzibik, Chicago’s first Native American-focused affordable housing project; Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago’s new outpatient center in Schaumburg; a 32-story mixed-use multifamily tower at 370 N Morgan in Chicago; and the 70,000-square-foot headquarters buildout for the American Dental Association at 401 N Michigan Avenue in Chicago.

“It’s an incredible feeling to have the hard work of our high-performing teams recognized,” said Jerry Ball, President & CEO, Skender. “In the end, it’s all about the value that these projects bring to the communities that surround them. We’re looking forward to another successful year ahead as we sharpen our focus on multifamily, healthcare, office and interiors projects.”
Prior to last night, since 2015, Skender has received or has been named finalist for 15 contractor of the year awards from three different awarding bodies: Illinois Real Estate Journal’s Commercial Real Estate Awards; the Chicago Commercial Real Estate Awards benefitting the Greater Chicago Food Depository; and the Indiana Subcontractors Association.
“Receiving the CFMA Chicago Chapter’s Contractor of the Year award is truly an honor,” said Ball. “We appreciate the recognition and value the way CFMA brings architecture, engineering and construction professionals together to collaborate and drive our industry forward.”
