Union Laborer

Skender is currently seeking a Laborer to join our talented group of employees.

 

Responsibilities: 

A laborer at Skender is responsible for performing tasks involving physical labor for commercial and tenant improvement projects. These tasks may include; operating hand and power tools, cleaning and preparing sites, digging trenches, setting braces to support the sides of excavations, erecting scaffolding, cleaning up rubble and debris, removing waste materials and assisting other craft workers. 

• Perform a variety of tasks involving manual labor at construction projects 
• Maintain a clean job site: pick up all tools and equipment and secure job site each day in order to eliminate potential hazards
• Material handling and storage 
• Load and unload trucks and haul and hoist materials
• Ensure that proper safety and incident reporting procedures are followed and bring problems to the attention of the Superintendent


Qualifications: 

  • Any combination of education and experience that demonstrates the knowledge and ability to perform the work
  • Must be in good standing with the union
  • Willingness and ability to perform manual work following verbal and written instruction 
  • Some knowledge of proper use of equipment, materials, and supplies used in commercial and interior projects 
  • Ability to lift heavy objects, walk, and stand for long periods of time and perform strenuous physical labor under adverse field conditions
